(Foley, AL.) – On Thursday, January 26, 2023, The Utilities Board of the City of Foley experienced a sanitary sewer overflow (SSO). A sanitary sewer manhole located inside an apartment development adjacent to the Crown Walk Lift Station overflowed and reached an adjacent storm drain. The cause of the SSO was found to be the referenced lift station was not operating. Upon inspection, the pump had an internal wiring issue and shorted to ground, causing it not to run. The pump has been pulled and sent off for repair. This station is operating on a diesel-driven bypass pump and will be closely monitored until the submersible pumps are back online.
A copy of the data submitted to the Alabama Department of Environmental Management for this event is attached for reference.
