SSO 11/14


Riviera Utilities experienced a Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO) afternoon at approximately 1:00PM at a sanitary sewer manhole south of the South Baldwin Regional Medical Center located at 1613 N. McKenzie Street in Foley, Alabama. This SSO event occurred as a result of a grease blockage in the sanitary sewer gravity main. The grease blockage was removed and the SSO ended at approximately 3:30PM. This SSO event resulted in approximately 1,500 gallons (10 gpm) of sanitary sewer overflowing the manhole and discharging to the drainage ditch along N. McKenzie Street (SR-59). The area was thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.
