(Foley, AL.) – On Wednesday, January 10, 2024, The Utilities Board of the City of Foley experienced a sanitary sewer overflow (SSO) at a sanitary sewer manhole located on Bellingrath Drive in Foley, Alabama. The cause of the SSO was found to be excessive grease build-up in the gravity collection in the manhole located at the intersection of Bellingrath Drive and Pencarro Blvd. This flow restriction caused the SSO at the referenced location.
- Volume: 150 gallons
- Destination: Overflowed from the sanitary sewer manhole into the storm drain, to a tributary that ultimately drains to Bon Secour River.
A copy of the data has been submitted to the Alabama Department of Environmental Management for this event.
