Gov. Kay Ivey awarded nearly $965,000 in grants to help low-income and elderly Alabama residents weatherize their homes to lower energy costs. The grants, totaling $964,862, support Alabama's Weatherization Assistance Program, which provides funds to improve the energy efficiency and safety of qualifying homes. Priority is given to people with disabilities, elderly residents, and low-income households with children. The program is administered by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Development (ADECA) in partnership with local Community Action Agencies throughout Alabama. $70,760 was awarded to Community Action Agency of South Alabama which serves Baldwin Count.
